Shodhan Kriya: Experience Changes by ‘Breathing’

The breath ‘kriya’ is a traditional yogic breathing to makeover the inner landscape of a practitioner by calming mental fluctuations and turns your breath an enjoyable experience. As the breath becomes deeper, slower and more rhythmic, the stress, anxiety and emotional turbulence begin to dissolve. This kriya cultivates clarity of thought and emotional stability. With a few weeks of self-practice, it helps individuals respond to life’s challenges with greater calmness, focus and resilience, creating harmony between body, mind and emotions.

These are four steps to Shodhan Kriya:

Rhythmic breath:

‘Shodhan’ endorses rhythmic pattern of breath to relax the overthinking mind and balms the suppressing emotions and feelings.

Deep breath:

When inhale breath touches the centre of your consciousness, you experience joy, tranquillity and stability in every sphere of life.

Fast breath:

Rapid movement of incoming and outgoing breath energy releases horrible feelings and suppressed emotions.

Nadi breath:

A breath that merely touches the surface can’t nourish your whole being. Feel it at the navel-rooted and discover where it belongs to.

    Founder’s Message

Realization dawns when everything that creates individuality is transcended. Bodh is not distant or extraordinary; it is the nearest reality, waiting to be recognized.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Bodh Meditation is a 12-day meditation program by Satbodh Foundation. “Bodh” means perceiving the world as it is, without inner commentary. It combines support-based and support-less approaches — beginning with tools such as breath, mantra, bead counting and gazing, and gradually moving into objectless awareness — to still the mind and reveal your higher ‘Self’ beyond the conditioned mind.

The restless, conditioned mind keeps you identified with thoughts, fears and external supports. Bodh Meditation traces the mind back to its pristine purity, dissolving inner chatter, emotional imbalance and dependency, so that awareness rests naturally in silent, effortless being.

Yes. The 12-day program is designed to take a complete beginner step-by-step from basic support-based practice to deeper objectless meditation. No prior experience is required — only sincerity and willingness to practice under the Master’s guidance.

Meditation is not about forcefully controlling thoughts. Using breath, sound and mantra as supports, you learn to become a silent observer of the mind. As witnessing deepens, thoughts settle on their own and inner stillness arises naturally.

Both have their place. Object-based (support) meditation sharpens focus and is ideal in the beginning; support-less meditation is resting in pure witnessing. In Bodh Meditation, objects are stepping-stones — true meditation blossoms when all supports naturally fall away.

A beginner’s mind is scattered and easily distracted. Supports such as breath, mantra and bead counting give the mind a single point to rest on, sharpening focus and preparing awareness to eventually let go of all support.

Object-less practice includes resting in inner silence, pure witnessing and a thoughtless mind — awareness abiding in itself without any external anchor. It is the support-less stage the first days of practice gradually prepare you for.

Regular meditation brings mental clarity, emotional resilience and inner rest; it softens fear, dependency and restlessness, and reconnects you with the timeless source of your existence — creating harmony across every dimension of life.
