Beyond Bodily Identification

Kundalini Yoga: Discover Your True Nature

In Kundalini Yoga, dissolving the ego and duality does not mean denying your existence. It means realizing that your thoughts, dreams and ego do not define your true nature. As you move beyond identification with your body, mind and name, you begin to discover a deeper reality beyond the limited sense of Self.

Breath Kriyas

Through breath kriyas, you learn how breathing affects your thoughts. When the breath pauses, the mind may become still for a moment. By observing your breath and thoughts without attachment, you begin to realize that you are more than your body and mind.

Chakra Meditation

Meditating on each chakra helps you observe changes in your emotions, feelings and behaviour as awareness deepens and ego loosens its hold. As consciousness expands through chakra meditation, you become open to embrace success and recognition.

Mantra and Mudra

Regular practice of Sivoham kriya refines your process of hearing so that you begin to experience the ‘subtle’ rhythmic pattern hidden within the breath.

Witnessing Awareness

As your ability to observe without judgment grows, you begin to see reality beyond the thoughts and beliefs that shape your perception. In pure witnessing awareness of Kundalini, thoughts, fears and emotions fade, leaving only stillness and the experience of being.

Experience of Non-Duality

In higher chakra meditation, the boundary between you and the world may begin to dissolve. According to traditional Kundalini philosophy, this experience of oneness can bring a natural sense of bliss, deep peace and inner freedom.

Reveal Your True Nature

The Sun appears as a small ball in the sky, yet its true vastness lies beyond what eyes can perceive. Similarly, the limited mind cannot grasp the full depth of your existence. Kundalini yoga helps you move beyond these limitations and experience the deeper truth.

Questions & Answers

Kundalini Yoga – Frequently Asked Questions

Kundalini Yoga is a traditional yogic path that works step-by-step with the body, breath, subtle breath (prana), chakras, mind and awareness to support inner purification and spiritual awakening.

You can see the bottom of a lake when its water is still and clear. Similarly, to look deeply into your own consciousness, the mind must become still and free from objects. As subjective awareness deepens, the inner landscape becomes clearer, allowing the truth seeker to perceive what lies beyond the surface of thought.

The basic Kundalini Yoga gradually remove the layers that cloud your inner awareness, like dust covering a mirror, so you can become more receptive to your inner energy and consciousness. This prepares you for advanced Kundalini Yoga, which takes you deeper into the subtle dimensions of energy and awareness, helping you discover that the “kingdom of heaven” is not outside, but within.

Advanced kundalini yoga deepens your awareness of the chakras and nadis—the subtle centres and pathways through which energy is traditionally understood to move, while the petals of consciousness gradually unfold through deeper inner awareness. The course may include selected asanas, pranayama, breath kriyas, Nadi Shodhana, bandhas, mudras, chakra meditation, seed (bija) mantras, concentration and meditation.

Because you identified yourself with the body, mind, senses, desires, and ego. You begin to believe, “I am this body,” “I am my thoughts,” or “I need this to be happy.” This attachment creates a narrow sense of who you are, keeping awareness bound to changing experiences rather than recognizing the deeper consciousness beyond them.

Chakras are subtle centres of consciousness associated with different expressions of energy and awareness. As Kundalini energy is traditionally said to ascend through these centres, awareness becomes progressively more refined. The seven chakras can be understood as seven stages through which energy and consciousness move, either upward or downward. Beyond Manipura Chakra, however, the traditional teaching describes a deeper shift in awareness, making the return to lower states increasingly unlikely.

In the traditional tantra model, the subtle body is described as having 72,000 nadis, or energy pathways. Among them, Ida, Pingala, and Sushumna are considered the three principal nadis. Pranic kriyas and breath practices are traditionally used to purify and balance these pathways, preparing the practitioner for deeper inner awareness. Practices such as Nadi Shodhana are traditionally used to balance and purify pranic flow.

The approach is gradual. The body, breath, prana and mind are first prepared through purification and awareness practices rather than forcing an awakening. Kundalini awakening is traditionally regarded as a rare phenomenon in yoga. However, the progressive purification of nadis and chakras, along with the gradual rising of Kundalini, is traditionally associated with greater clarity, vitality, discipline, and inner strength—qualities that can support both spiritual growth and a more purposeful worldly life.

It can be approached by many practitioners, but practices should be adapted according to individual experience and physical condition. Advanced practices should be learned under qualified guidance.

Practitioners may experience greater bodily awareness, improved concentration, calmer breathing, emotional clarity, and deeper meditative awareness. Experiences vary from person to person.

Traditionally, bandhas and mudras are used to regulate and channel prana while supporting concentration and deeper internal awareness.

The traditional progression can be understood as:
Asana → Pranayama → Prana → Nadi → Bandha & Mudra → Chakra → Kundalini → Awareness → Bodh.
